November 5 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm EST
Finlandia Foundation National Artist of the Year, Eric Aho, is inspired by Finland. He will share how his Finnish ancestry informs his imagination and his daily life as an artist. This is the inaugural year of the FFN Artist of the Year designation. The goal is to spotlight outstanding talent within the Finnish-American arts community.
Artist Eric Aho lives in Vermont. He studied at the Central School of Art and Design in Vermont. He has a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and did postgraduate work at the Institute of Art and Design in Lahti, Finland.
Eric Aho is known for his immersive paintings of the natural world, using color and form to bridge the way we experience nature in totality. His canvases occupy a zone of perception between sober realism and ecstatic abstraction. His works have been shown and collected widely in the US and abroad. His works can be found in the permanent collections of these art museums to name a few:
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Oulu Museum of Art in Finland
