Known for\ntwo decades in Baltimore as the city’s\nbeloved “piano girl\,” she has released nine\nindependent albums and performed\ninternationally.\nRuut comes from an artistic lineage: her\ngrandfather\, Aulis Sallinen\, is Finland’s most\ncelebrated living opera composer. She has\nbuilt a unique and authentic body of work\nand is deeply influenced by Finnish oral\nstorytelling traditions and the shamanistic\nworldview of her ancestors.\nRuut has served for three years as president\nof the Finlandia Foundation Baltimore Area\nchapter\, where she has built community\nthrough concerts and cultural programming.\nShe also co-wrote a 2025 National Sauna\nWeek theme song in collaboration with Ida\nMetsberg\, FFN’s 2023 Performer of the Year.\nRuut’s upcoming album\, Motherland\, is a\nmusical journey into Finnish mythology and\nheritage\, bridging past and present through\nsong.
